Tips for selection of upholstery fabrics
Upholsteries are the flavor of a room and fabrics are the pulse of decorated or designer upholstery. There are lots of fabric options for quality designer upholstery which includes leather, hi-tech synthetic materials, and different types of cloths; however in between all these options upholstery made of organza and silk fabric are widely popular all over the world for home makers as well as for interior decorators. Because of immense popularity of organza as upholstery fabric it is often called upholstery fabric; the popularity of this fabric with interior decorator has earned anew textile name for this mixed fabric, it is often called interior designer fabric.
However selection of upholstery fabric needs proper planning and deep insight for furnishing effect. Only the right selection of fabric can add style, feel, and durability in the designer upholstery and make the ambience of the room perfectly as per the plan. A basic planning will be helpful in deciding the same.
The fabric should be appropriate for the style and décor of the furnishing. Unless there will be an inherent symmetry between the décor and type of fabrics the completeness of room décor cannot be achieved at any cost. For example, large repeating patterns look better for bigger room size and colors of the fabric should be selected according to season like for summer cool colors and for winter warm colors like red, orange etc.
Upholstery of a room need to be designed based on the traffic of the room. If the room is supposed to have heavy traffic, it is obvious that the fabrics are to be frequently washed for cleanliness so the fabrics should selected from the aspect of durability and wash friendliness. Additionally if the heavy traffic of the house is all about small children, it is obvious to use dark colored fabrics instead of light shade; it will require lesser maintenance.
Moreover, thread count, fade resistance, easy tailoring, are the other issues to be kept in mind at the time of selection of upholstery fabric.
Upholstery differs from one room to another. What is the upholstery of living should not go with the ideal upholstery of bedroom or study room. According to the use upholstery fabric should be selected otherwise it will never be possible to enjoy the desired look and ambience of the house. According to the upholstery of the room, the fabric colors need to be changed. For example, if Living Room should be vibrant bedroom should be the place for relaxation and rest therefore fabric color for bedroom should be of cool color whereas living room upholstery can be enlightened with bright colors.
Natural fabrics like cotton, silk fabrics, and organza are eco-friendly fabrics and help maintaining a green environment, which is not only good for healthy and organic life style, it is good for house energy conservation and heat absorption capacity thus keeps house conditioned against external hostile weather. These fabrics are recyclable which also goes with the tune of go-green planet concept taken for the well being for our future generations. Therefore it is recommended to select natural fabrics for designer upholstery for your home.
