Does seagrass carpeting smell?I am considering using it to carpet the stairs ,landing and bedrooms.?

- It's a great alternative to carpet but if it gets wet at all it will smell and can get mouldy ... probably best to use it in a rumpus room or something similar.
- Seagrass has a lovely, natural smell (a bit like fresh straw) but it's not recommended for stairs as it's not terribly hard wearing and can 'sag' causing a trip hazard. It would, however, be lovely in a bedroom.
- Sea Grass looks great when it is new, it smells like tea, is not easy to clean, can be a potential trip hazard on the stringers on stairs. Very fashionable.
- It will at first, but then so does a new carpet. The smell soon goes away or you'll get used to it just like a new carpet!
- Jute carpeting is good,i'ts very hard wearing.
