  1. cut the carpet out, that thing will smell no matter what!
  2. Try shaving cream, the stuff is wonderful to clean carpets.
  3. oh dearest....the carpet will clean, but if the spot is towards the outer edge try pulling the carpet up and cutting out the padding that is what holds the smell , padding is cheap to buy just get a small piece and piece it in, if its in the middle you can do the same you will just have to take a chair and stretch the carpet back over the carpet strips. thats a bit of work it's a lot easier then dealing with the smell of cat urine.
  4. warm water filled with lots of salt
  5. baking soda. put it on there for a while, then vaccuum it up
  6. THIS WEBSITE SHOULD HELP http://www.cozycatfurniture.com/cat_newsletters/catnewsletter10.html
  7. Sprinkling Baking Soda will help, then vacuum it up... You may have to replace the carpet and repolish the floor. Cat Urine can produce ammonia in the air, and it will crystalize beneath the carpet. If you routinely clean the spot, you can maybe salvage the carpet.
  8. Have you try Awesome ? Its sold like at the 99 cent stores. Its a yellow liquid and it cleans just about anything.. It works wonders..
  9. Soak it with apple vinegar or really any white/clear vinegar. Then soak up the vinegar with an absorbent cloth and sprinkle with baking soda. Vacuum and repeat until it's gone (it may take a few). OR go to your local petstore and get a product specifically designed to neutralize the enzymes found in cat urine, otherwise they will keep urinating in the same place.
  10. short of replacing the carpet..nothing. trust me i have 2 cats and the older one this summer started to go outside the litterbox (i ended up having to get 2 litterboxes..solved the problem but too late) i still have that smell and have done everything to get it out. the only saving grace i have is that i live in an apt and will not be there as of June lol. You can try enzyme and bacterial odor cleaners. that seems to work the best...the smell still comes back but i keep it on hand ..spray the carpet and it covers it up for a bit. This website will help...anyone of these will work.
  11. do a google search for Urine Off on the internet, order it and it will be sent to you, it really works and you will save your carpet also after use spray the area with a citrus spray and it will keep the cat from coming back. Ann
  12. warn water with a little dish washing liquid and a drop or salt and vinegar mixed together and gentle rub the carpet it should get the odor out making it fresh
  13. vinegar works wonders for any smells.
  14. get yourself a good quality carpet cleaner if you dont already have one, then buy the solution, it is called mean green carpet cleaner for pet oders, stains ect, we raise standard poodle pups, it does wonders!
  15. Jane D was the closest when she said "soak it with Vinegar". But she forgot to say, Soak it with a mixture of half water and half vinegar. If you use pure vinegar or "5% acetic acid" you'll put ugly colored spot on your carpet. Water it down in half at least. Then just pour about two cups on the spot. Then immediately use a towel to soak it up. If you need, wait til it drys THEN use baking powder. OH YA, if you spill anything on your carpet from red wine to bladder Urine, immediately pour room temperature water on it(again about two cups) then throw a thick towel down on top of it and STEP ON IT.
  16. gently mix the following in a glass container: 16 oz. (2 cups) hydrogen peroxide (ordinary kind from the drug store) 2 tsp. baking soda 2 small drops liquid dishwashing soap (like Dawn) Completely soak the affected area, and let it sit for 24 hours. then blot it up after that. Be sure that the carpet is colorfast before you do this by trying it in a hidden spot. This could bleach your carpet. On the other hand, the smell is probably worse than a bleach mark. If this doesn't work, you'll be throwing it all away anyway, right? If the urine got all the way into the padding, consider pulling up the carpet, and treating the carpet and the padding separately. And treating the wood or concrete under the padding too. One treatment may not be enough. Don't give up. I had a sick cat that peed all over the carpeting in my basement. I did this several times over a couple of weeks and the smell eventually went away. It was either that or replace the carpeting. Also, the smell actually got a little worse before it got better -- so if one treatment makes it seem worse, don't let that discourage you. Good luck.
  17. Cat urine contains fatty deposits, and it's the scent of those decaying fats that smell so bad, but also attract the cat to return to the same spot each time. Wash the area with a solution of 10% biological or enzymatic washing liquid/powder and warm water. Rinse thoroughly with cold water and let it dry. Then using a plant-mister,spray the area with surgical spirit. (This will remove any off the fatty deposits that the washing solution missed.) Scrub this off too and leave it to dry. Test this cleaning method on a hidden area first, as it may not be colourfast on more delicate carpet. The link below has lots of good advice on cleaning up that may help you. http://www.celiahaddon.co.uk/pet%20problems/cats/frameset.html
  18. There is a liquid that you spray on the carpet until it is wet probably down to the pad, so you might want to pour it on. It is called Natures Miracle or something close to that. Petsmart carries it so I'm sure other pet stores do also. Just make sure it is the kind that had the enzyme in it that eats the bacteria in urine that causes the smell. It works right away but will work for several months until it eats all of the bacteria. I have used it many times and it works great!
