How often do people typically replace their home's carpeting?
Sometimes they replace it for a change of the home's interior, but there are other times when wear and tear or stains cause the carpet to need replacement, about how often is it replaced because of the latter?

- Usually when it's really looking bad or when the people can afford to replace it.
- It really depends on the traffic flow of the house. I have had the same carpet for 30 years and it does not show any signs of wear and tear yet because we are hardly ever home.
- Under normal circumstances I would think every ten years or less. It depends how well the carpet holds up for the use and wear that is in your family. Sometimes when new owners arrive they change it because of color or for a quality change to match with their furniture or style.
- cheap carpet, lots of foot traffic, with shoes on - pretty often. good quality carpet, low foot traffic, shoes removed - a really long time. ..and there's lots of stuff in-between.
- Depends on the type of carpet, and the type of traffic and kids and pets etc. We have had the same carpet for 7 years with pets, kids and traffic but we do clean it every 6 months or so and vacuum it twice a week or more. I would say every ten years if you take care of it, if not it could be as soon as three years or less. The old cliche"e you get hat you pay for is right in this case. Good Luck :)
